Inspiring presentations, meaningful dialogue, a successful conference – CEA 2026

The 22nd Conference on Educational Assessment (CEA 2026) was held in Szeged between 23 and 25 April 2026. The conference was organised by the Institute of Education and the Doctoral School of Education of the University of Szeged, together with the Szeged Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Committee of Learning ad Instruction. Continuing a professional tradition that has been built since 2003, the conference once again provided a forum for scholarly dialogue among Hungarian and international researchers in the field of educational assessment.

The programme focused on current issues in educational assessment, including digitalisation, the educational applications of artificial intelligence, adaptive assessment, as well as equity, inclusiveness, and assessment practices that support learning.

A highlight of the event was the keynote lecture by Ronny Scherer, which centred on the possibilities of integrating different sources of research data, with particular emphasis on meta-analyses and large-scale international assessments. The programme also introduced a new format: a roundtable discussion on the role of artificial intelligence in education.
