The 25th National Conference on Educational Sciences Held in Szeged

Between 13–15 November 2025, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Juhász Gyula Faculty of Education, and the Institute of Education at the University of Szeged hosted the 25th National Conference on Educational Sciences. The event was chaired by Krisztián Józsa.

The three-day conference welcomed more than 500 participants from Hungary and abroad, reaffirming its role as one of the most significant professional forums in the field. Attendees engaged in symposia, roundtable discussions, and parallel sessions addressing key issues and current challenges in education and educational research.

This year’s conference featured two distinguished keynote speakers. 

Susanne E. Hidi, professor at the University of Toronto and one of the most influential researchers in student motivation and interest development, delivered a keynote on the processes involved in the emergence of interest and the role of learning environments in supporting motivation.

The second keynote speaker was Katalin Karikó, Nobel Prize–winning scientist, internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work in mRNA-based therapies and vaccines. In her keynote address, she reflected on the challenges of a scientific career, the importance of perseverance, and the broader societal impact of scientific innovation.
