25th Conference on Educational Sciences
Educational Sciences Yesterday and Today – The Challenges of the Future
13-15 November, 2025

In 2025, the University of Szeged will host the 25th National Conference on Educational Sciences. This prestigious conference series was launched in 2001 by the Committee on Educational Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, at the initiative of Benő Csapó. Over the years, the conference has become a vital platform for educational research in Hungary. This year marks its 25th anniversary. This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on our journey: Where did we start 25 years ago, and where are we today? How have we evolved, and in what directions have we progressed? The 21st century has posed significant challenges for Hungary’s preschool and school systems. Over the past 25 years, we have witnessed profound social and economic transformations both globally and in Hungary. The digital world has advanced rapidly, and artificial intelligence has begun to reshape education. Meanwhile, themes such as sustainability, environmental education, and the development of social skills have gained increasing importance. However, many long-standing challenges remain. Issues such as the transition from preschool to primary school, the selectivity of the education system, and educational inequality continue to present dilemmas. At the same time, labor market demands have fundamentally shifted, requiring schools to prepare future generations for jobs and roles that largely do not yet exist. Educators face increasing challenges in addressing diverse student needs and promoting equal opportunities. Traditional teaching roles are evolving, and new educational goals demand innovative pedagogical methods. How can educational research support these changes? How can we build the school of the future upon the foundations of past and present education? This 25th National Conference on Educational Sciences aims to explore these critical issues and provide insights into the future of education.
